HP has been proving for many years that they are one of the most innovative companies when it comes to printing technologies and specifically mass-produced consumer based products. One of their most popular lines is the humble HP DeskJet printer, but just how did it come into eistxence?
Years of Research & Development
One of the reasons for their success is the long line of HP printers that have come out in the past have been extremely successful and has helped to grow the company to the point where they are one of the most respected brands for consumer printing products. One of the things that have helped the company gain this reputation is the great success that it has had with its line of DeskJet printers and high quality DeskJet ink. This all started a long time ago: in fact it was back in 1979 when the thermal HP inkjet technology was invented that would eventually lead to the development of the extremely successful HP DeskJet Printers.
Introducing the First DeskJet
The company, after inventing the thermal inkjet technology, would go on to produce many successful printers in the years to come. However it wasn’t until 1988 that the first HP DeskJet printer was created. This was a huge milestone for the company and marked the first printer that would be able to offer laser quality on plain paper. This was a huge success for the company and would be the start of the great success they would experience with HP DeskJet printers in the future.
Success Begat Success
Due to the success of the first DeskJet the company would not take long to release the next generation. In 1989 the DeskJet+ was introduced to the public and furthered the reputation of these great products. The company would spend the next few years further developing and refining the technology, introducing many firsts in the quality of printing that consumers had access to.
By the time 1994 hit the line of DeskJet Printers were much more advanced than they were originally and as the past few years seen innovations that would drastically increase the quality of these printers and most importantly the quality of the printed images. The main reason for this was because the company was able to expand printing capabilities to 600 x 300 dpi resolution which was revolutionary for consumer based printing products at the time. It was during this time that HP DeskJet Printers would gain their reputation of being one of the first high quality consumers based printing products available to the mass public.
